There are 714 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves worldwide, each of them unique in terms of their geography, ecosystems, cultures, etc, and have their own local opportunities and challenges.
The Isle of Man was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere in 2016 in recognition of its special environment, culture, heritage and economy and its people’s desire to cherish and nurture them and to date, the Island is the only 'entire nation' Biosphere.
