IOM Chip & Putt Program goes from Strength to Strength

Tevir Group supports IOM Chip & Putt Golf Program allowing juniors to learn the basic skills and an introduction to the sport.

The Isle of Man Golf Union has been running a junior golf program in local schools on the Isle of Man. The Chip & Putt Program, supported by IOM Golf, IOM Sport & Golf Foundation & Tevir Group, has been a great way to introduce children around the island to the sport and improve their skills. Some of the schools that have taken part in the program are Willaston & Peel Clothworkers.

The scheme allows the year 6 pupils the opportunity to be introduced to the game of golf with a 4-to-6-week program which teaches them the basic skills of chipping and putting through fun sessions ran by the PGA Professional Andrew Patterson.

This year Tevir Group has become involved providing funding so that each school are provided with the equipment which is donated to the School at the end of the program so that games can be continued within the school environment.

Thanks to Tevir Groups help and the support of Isle of Man Sport and the Golf Foundation we will be able to roll out Chip and Putt to 6 schools this year and run a Chip and Putt Festival in April for all the schools that have benefited from the scheme since launch.

The long-term aim is to get Chip and Putt into all Primary Schools in order that all school children get the opportunity to discover golf and hopefully progress into a game that all can play from age 6 well into retirement.
