In recent years the Castle Mona has been subject to significant amounts of water ingress and has also suffered from a lack of ongoing rigorous maintenance works, as well as bouts of vandalism. We therefore commenced extensive remedial works on the building shortly after the complex purchase process was completed.
Urgent work to halt further water ingress is being undertaken which has required the erection of scaffolding. New, more rigid hoardings have been installed in order to prevent further vandalism and an extensive asbestos survey has also now been completed.
The Tevir Group recognises the importance of the Castle Mona to the Isle of Man’s cultural heritage and its status as a Registered Building. Any work being undertaken on the original parts of the building is being done in full consultation with the Isle of Man Government's Building Control Directorate and its Registered Buildings Officer.
